1. Who we are

MSK Radiology 4U is an independent, not-for-profit educational project. It is not a hospital, clinic, or healthcare provider, and the Site does not process any patient records or provide any clinical service. For the purposes of UK data protection law, we act as the data controller for the limited personal data described below.

2. Information we collect

We deliberately keep data collection to a minimum. The Site does not require you to register or create an account, and there is no form on the Site that collects and stores your personal details.

3. How we use your information

We use the limited data described above to:

• Understand how visitors use the Site so we can improve content and navigation
• Maintain the security and proper functioning of the Site
• Respond to enquiries you send us by email

We do not use your information for automated decision-making or profiling, and we do not sell or rent your information to anyone.

4. Cookies

Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. We use:

• Strictly necessary cookies – required for the Site to function correctly (e.g. remembering your Quiz Mode progress during a session).
• Analytics cookies – help us understand how visitors use the Site, as described in Section 2.1.

Where required by law, we will ask for your consent before setting non-essential cookies. You can control or delete cookies at any time through your browser settings; blocking cookies may affect some Site features, such as Quiz Mode score tracking.

5. Our legal basis for processing

Under UK GDPR, we rely on the following legal bases:

• Legitimate interests – to run analytics that help us maintain and improve a free educational resource, and to respond to enquiries sent to us.
• Consent – for non-essential cookies, where consent is required by applicable cookie law.

6. Who we share information with

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We may share limited data with:

• Our website hosting and infrastructure providers, who process data on our behalf to keep the Site running
• Analytics providers (e.g. Google Analytics), who process usage data under their own privacy terms
• Regulators or law enforcement, where we are required to do so by law

7. International transfers

Some of the third-party tools we use (for example, analytics providers) may process data outside the UK, including in the United States. Where this happens, we rely on safeguards recognised under UK data protection law, such as Standard Contractual Clauses or the provider's own adequacy certifications, to ensure your information remains protected.

8. How long we keep information

Analytics data is generally retained by our analytics provider in line with their standard retention periods (commonly 14–26 months) before being automatically deleted or aggregated. Emails you send us are kept only as long as needed to deal with your enquiry, and are then deleted or archived.

9. Your rights

Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Ask us to correct inaccurate data
• Ask us to delete your data
• Restrict or object to our processing of your data
• Ask for your data to be provided in a portable format
• Withdraw consent at any time, where processing is based on consent

To exercise any of these rights, email us at the address in Section 1. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk if you believe we have not handled your data properly.

10. Children

The Site is an educational resource intended for radiologists, trainees, orthopaedic surgeons, medical students, and similar clinical audiences. It is not directed at, or designed for, children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

11. Security

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect the limited information we hold. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time, for example to reflect changes in the tools we use or in the law. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page shows when it was last revised. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
